DropScam was created with one goal in mind: to help seniors protect themselves from scams before they become victims. While anyone can use DropScam, it was designed first for older adults and the families and caregivers who care about them.

The idea grew from a simple experience of my own. I went to Walgreens to purchase five gift cards, paying $50 cash for each one. I wasn't paying attention to what the cashier was doing, and I left without checking my receipt.

Later, after giving one of the cards away, I discovered it had never been activated. I had lost $50 and walked away with a worthless gift card.

It was embarrassing, but it taught me an important lesson: I should have stopped, paid attention, and checked before I trusted.

That experience also reminded me that scams and dishonest transactions don't happen only online. They can happen through phone calls, texts, emails, regular mail, websites, social media, or even in person.

That's why I created DropScam. It gives people a simple way to check suspicious contacts and better understand what they're facing before taking action.
